Major traffic changes due to bridge collapse
Traffic will be diverted due to the collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River, and drivers should expect delays.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is making Minnesota Highway 280 the primary route to replace northbound and southbound I-35W traffic. It will carry traffic from I-35W in Roseville to Interstate 94.

To prevent traffic snarls, Highway 280 will be converted to a temporary freeway with no traffic signals. The change means Broadway Avenue and County Road B will no longer have access to the highway, and the lights at these intersections will stay green for the highway.

North of the collapsed bridge, traffic on I-35W will stop at the Stinson/New Brighton Boulevard exits. South of the bridge, all northbound I-35W traffic will be forced to exit onto eastbound I-94.

In addition to these changes, the ramp from Hennepin Avenue to Southbound I-35W will be closed to traffic.

Leaving downtown Minneapolis
Drivers wanting to leave downtown Minneapolis have three main routes:

Fourth Avenue South, which feeds onto southbound I-35W;
Fifth Street South, which feeds onto eastbound I-94; and
Third Street West, which feeds onto Interstate 394 or I-94 westbound.
Drivers should avoid Washington Avenue at 35W.

FROM THE NORTH: I-35W
Please take the Highway 280 detour (bypassing the 35W bridge over the Mississippi River) and follow directions for "From the East: I-94," or take alternate routes.

FROM THE NORTH: I-94
Heading east on 94, take the 4th Street North exit (230). Turn LEFT onto 3rd Avenue South. Turn RIGHT onto 2nd Street South and go 4 blocks. The Guthrie will be on your left.

FROM THE SOUTH: I-35W
Heading north on 35W, follow the downtown exit to 5th Avenue. Take 5th Avenue to to 2nd Street South. Turn right onto 2nd Street South and travel 2 blocks. The Guthrie will be on your left.

FROM THE WEST: I-394
Heading east on 394 to the downtown exits, take the 3rd Avenue/Washington Avenue exit (9C). Take the Washington Avenue ramp. Turn RIGHT onto Washington Avenue. Turn LEFT onto Chicago Avenue South. Turn RIGHT onto 2nd Street South. The Guthrie will be on your left.

FROM THE EAST: I-94
Heading west on 94, take the 5th Street exit. Turn right onto 11th Avenue South. Turn LEFT onto 2nd Street South and go 2 blocks. The Guthrie will be on your right.

Parking
Parking is available in the ramp on South 2nd Street directly across from the Guthrie and in numerous parking lots throughout the neighborhood. Online parking reservations for the parking ramp across the street are available through the City of Minneapolis at a reduced rate of $6. Visit the Minneapolis Parking Reservation System and click on "Create a Parking Reservation for an Event."

Bus Stop/Light Rail
The nearest MetroTransit bus stop for the Guthrie is the Route 7 or Route 22 stop on the corner of Washington Avenue at Chicago Avenue. For light rail use the Downtown East/Metrodome Station stop. For more information in planning your trip, visit the MetroTransit website.
